Has anybody remembered Vera Lynn
Today I was listening to Pink Floyd's "Vera Lynn," over the radio. Just as lovely as the melody is the songs' lyrics. Vera Lynn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_Lynn) was one of the cheerful celebrities of WWII, who cheered the departing troups with her "We' will meet again" slogans. If I remember the video of this ironic song correct, Roger Waters' (lead singer) alter-ego 'pink' goes for war and does not show again.
Having lived in San Fransico, I can boldly claim that I know quite a bit about the now dormant, if not non-existent, Bohemian culture; moreover I still I love to listen, and to do a bit of research about the classic rock of 60s and early 70s. But as the records indicate, this song was filmed in 1979 which is not quite in hippie era. What would have really instigated the group to write this song in a non-war era is beyond clear comprehension. I am sure its succint lyrics and correct tone makes it a star.
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day

Vera! Vera!
What has become of you
Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do ?

Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do ?
